Marina Supervisor

Tofino Resort + Marina is an adventure-focused resort located on the waterfront in beautiful Tofino, British Columbia, and is also the proud home of 1909 Kitchen and The Hatch Waterfront Pub. Set in the heart of town, on the water, Tofino Resort + Marina is a base camp for adventures of all types. The Marina Supervisor is responsible for performing and overseeing all aspects of the Marina and Marine Adventure Centre while on duty. A good knowledge of both the dock hand and Adventure desk duties is also essential. This is a great position for someone looking to grow into a management position in the tourism industry. Core Job Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Making sure the docks are always kept clean and tidy, and free of hazards
  • Daily Dock Hand Duties
  • Follow TRM and Transport Canada guidelines while on boats and dock
  • Follow TRM spill response guidelines in case of fuel spill
  • Tying off float planes and helping customers up the ramp with their baggage
  • Maintaining the ice machine
  • Rental boat program checking boats/guests in and out
  • Managing rental equipment (Maintenance/inventory of fishing gear, traps )
  • Greeting each boat that arrives at the Marina (fish totes)
  • Having a general knowledge of TRM and being able to point guests in the right direction
  • Maintenance/inventory of gear carts, hoses, fire extinguishers and dock fixtures 
  • Interacting with guests face to face
  • Selling all tours TRM has to offer
  • Selling meals and specials at 1909 Kitchen & The Hatch Waterfront Pub
  • Selling & managing retail product
  • Checking guests in/out of hotel rooms
  • Checking guests in/out of moorage spots
  • Keeping coffee station stocked up and tidy
  • Taking reservations over the phone (moorage, tours, hotel rooms, etc.)
  • Checking guests in/out for Harbour Air flights  
  • Operating VHF radio to check in / record Captain’s position and tour status 
  • Effectively handle, investigate, and resolve guest concerns that may arise in a professional and timely manner
  • Contacting sub-contractors for tours/coordinating with guest for sub-contractor activities
  • Operating the POS system to process all sales related to marina and hotel
  • Daily Adventure Desk duties

Breakfast Cook

Core Job Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Responsible for preparing some of and executing all breakfast menu items.
  • Daily prep lists.
  • Cleaning and set up/ take down of section.
  • Must be proficient with egg cookery, hollandaise, basic baking skills.
  • Speed and consistency are the two most important attributes for this position.
  • Guests that come for breakfast usually have plans for the rest of their day and appreciate a timely meal. Many will want to leave to go fishing as soon as they finish eating.
  • After service clean down, change inserts and prep in the back for the next day. It is the breakfast cooks responsibility to prep almost all their own items.

Laundry Attendant / Houseperson (start May)

Job Description:

Core Job Responsibilities & Duties

Time: 11am – 7:30pm or 12pm – 8:30pm

Sort linens for washer
Remove stains from badly soiled linen
Dispose of linen and terry properly
Operate washers and dryers properly as well as ensuring that the correct chemicals (and amounts) are being used
Fold linens to hotel standards and keep stock organized designated places
Wash bed wraps, duvets, mattress pads, and blankets in accordance with hotel standards
Keep laundry neat and clean
Assist housekeepers in cleanliness of hotel
Assist with cleaning and up-keeping of storage areas

  • Clean all public areas at the Resort, such as restaurant, pub, washrooms, gym, Marina center etc.
  • Report any deficiencies to the department head or maintenance and complete checklist of duties daily

Housekeeper (seasonal)

Job Description:

Job Description:

  • Responsible for promoting and selling various adventure tours, including Whale Watching, Bear Watching, trips to Hot Springs Cove or Fishing trips 
  • Responsible for booking moorage 
  • Checking guests in for tours and moorage, taking payment and ensuring waivers and agreement forms are filled out correctly 
  • Attend to the gift shop- selling retail items
  • Answer phone calls/email inquiries 
  • Responsible for checking in with all boats out on the water on a regular basis, documenting and tracking their location, and trip plan/details

  • Assist in moving boats to accommodate others arriving (if necessary)
  • Tote fish and assist guests from boats with their totes

  • Keep docks and moorage facilities clean and well maintained
  • Be aware of dock rules/policies, and make sure guests are aware as well

Core Job Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Work in both indoor and outdoor settings
  • Perform maintenance operations such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general repairs as per the request of the Maintenance Manager
  • Clean and maintain shop, shop equipment, and work areas
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the resort property
