Cook

The cook is responsible for cooking and preparing a variety of products including meat, seafood, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads and other dishes using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the daily prep list.

Core Job Responsibilities & Duties

Complete opening and closing checklists.
Refer to daily prep list at the start of each shift for assigned duties.
Prepare a variety meat, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in various types of food equipment.
Understands and compiles consistently with our standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
Follows proper plate presentation and garnishes.
Uses our standard recipes for preparing all products.
Handle, store and rotate all products properly.
Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including prep tables, shelves, walls, stoves, convection ovens, deep fryers, refrigeration equipment, and more.
Close kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations.
Inform Executive Chef immediately of any product shortages.
Perform additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by the Chef, Sous Chef, kitchen manager, or the MOD at any time.
Keep the highest hygiene conditions.

Experience & Qualifications

Housekeeping Supervisor

Supervise work activities of cleaning personnel to ensure smooth daily operations. Assign duties, inspect work, and investigate complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment and take corrective action. Purchase housekeeping supplies and equipment, take monthly inventories, screen applicants, train new employees, and recommend dismissals.

Guest Service Supervisor

Reporting directly to the rooms division manager, this position is responsible for encouraging the highest level of service from out guest service agents by ensuring that staff are consistently exceeding guest expectations; maximizing potential revenue and making sure results are achieved in accordance with objectives, performance and quality standards established by Tofino Resort + Marina.

Room Attendant

The room attendant is a physically demanding and very important role within the hotel. You co-operate as a member of the housekeeping team to successfully clean and prepare the suites for the guests, clean common areas, and keep all supplies well-stocked. Teamwork, communication, and the ability to work under pressure will allow you to be successful in this position.

Core Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Performs the responsibilities of the position within the policies and standards set out in the housekeeping manual.
  • Clean guest rooms while adhering to company standards of room cleanliness.

  • Maintain, clean, and stock housekeeping carts.
  • Maintain and clean resort property and common grounds.
  • Assist in the resort laundry section when required.
  • Work directly with and report to the housekeeping supervisor.
  • Maintain exceptional cleanliness and tidiness within the resort to Tofino Resort + Marina standards.
  • Deliver the highest standard of customer service.
  • Cooperate with housekeeping team to complete all signed tasks for the day in timely and efficient manner, including room cleaning, supply re-stocking, cleaning of common areas, and any other duties as reasonably requested by housekeeping manager.
  • Properly sign in and out for shifts.
  • Utilize appropriate cleaning agents to sanitize hotel areas to Tofino Resort + Marina standards.

Server

Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all of our guests. Each server’s primary objective is to show our guests such a marvelous time, so they will always want to return.

Core Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Upon clocking-in, perform section check. This includes the following:
    • Read all reservation notes attached to your section. Follow-up on all guest requests permitted by the company. If in doubt, inquire with the MOD.
    • Wipe chair seat, back rest (both sides), booths and tables to eliminate finger prints, crumbs and grease marks.
    • Ensure that table set-up is to the restaurant standard.
    • Wipe down and clean any other items that are on the table.
    •  Check all glassware on table and polish it so that it is streak-free.
    • Remove any extra settings as per table reservations.
    • Assist hosting team in seating guests.
  • Welcome and greet guests. Explain the restaurant’s concept in a clear, concise manner.
  • Inform guests of any features.
  • Make recommendations of food and drink products (cocktails, wine, dessert, and after-dinner drinks).
  • Visually present to all guests our products (such as wine) that you bring to the table.
  • Answer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services, such the marina, the resort, or Tofino in general.
  • Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders accurately in POS system which relays orders to the kitchen and bar.
  • Provide the following table service: top up water, beer, wine, and soda at all times. Offer another “round” once current one is ¾ empty.
  •  Make wine glass and plate changes
  •  Bring the guest any item(s) they request (butter, salt, pepper, etc.)
  • Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely manner.
  • Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by the serving team side duties assignment sheet.
  • Monitor and observe guest’s dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
  • Prepare final bill ensuring its accuracy, present check to guest, enter and accept correct payment, process credit/debit/gift card charges accurately or make change if applicable
  • Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return. Smile.
  • Reset section according to the restaurant’s table set standards.
  • Accurately complete server cash-out at the end of service shift, using the cash-out form provided by the Company and sign out with MOD.
Experience & Qualification
  • Be 19 years of age, and possess a Serving It Right certification.
  • 1+ years’ hospitality experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a POS.

Host/Hostess

The host(ess) is responsible for assigning customers to tables by performing an adequate rotation of sections to ensure exceptional service. The candidate must also take phone calls, take and place reservations, manage the waiting list of people who wait for a table and be able to respond to various questions of the customers.

Server Assistant/Busser

Servers assistants and bussers provide support to servers by inspecting all tables for proper set-up, cleanliness and completeness.

Core Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Answer questions about food, beverages, wine, and any general questions about the resort.
  • Assist with food-running and ensuring plates arrive to the proper guest.
  • Monitor the cleanliness of all tables and areas in the restaurant, and ensure that all materials and areas are clean and free from clutter.
  • Clear plates off tables as soon as the guests are done eating, and offer to replace side plates and cutlery where necessary.
  • Practice a high level of floor awareness and clear/clean as required.
  • Communicate with servers and hosts to maximize seating.
  • Empty garbage, change linen bags and dispose of garbage and recycling.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Dock Hand
Core Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Collect moorage maps.
  • Greet guests as they arrive. Ensure guests are moored on the correct slip.
  • Be aware of who each guest is and where they should be moored (check in with office at the start of each shift).
  • Assist in moving boats to accommodate others arriving (if necessary).
  • Tote fish and assist guests from boats with their totes.
  • Take fish to Trilogy Fish Co. or arrange pick up at fish store for guests.
  • Show moorage guests the onsite facilities (ice room, guest showers, washrooms, etc.).
  • Inform guests of any water restrictions (if applicable).
  • Keep docks and moorage facilities clean and well maintained:
- Totes clean and stacked.

  • Keep fish cleaning stations clean.
- Keep hoses coiled.
- Check taps and hoses for leaks.

  • Empty all dock garbage.
- Take care of small maintenance jobs when necessary.
- Check ice machine when needed, and turn off when it’s overfilled.
- Keep ice machine area customer friendly.
  • Be aware of dock rules/policies, and make sure guests are aware as well.
    Assist in charter office if needed.

  • Knowledge/experience in the fishing industry is an asset.
