Current Opportunities

Food & Beverage Manager

There is just one place on Vancouver Island’s raw, rugged west coast that shares the culinary spirit of Montreal, Los Angeles and Vancouver. It’s called Tofino, and it’s home to only 2000 people.

We are seeking exceptional people to be leaders in this town’s unique food-focused culture. Are you one of them?
At 1909 Kitchen, every ingredient is sourced with intent—and love—for the dish. Chef Paul Moran comes from a long line of foragers; men and women who understand land and water. He’s also worked in both Michelin-starred kitchens and remote fishing lodges. And this idea sits at the centre of Moran and 1909 Kitchen’s philosophy—embrace a healthy respect for your sources, and pair it with a sense of place. It’s a simple approach that allows for 1909 Kitchen to create unforgettable dishes, and more importantly, experiences that shine brighter in memory every year that passes. Shared plates bring people together, and the waterfront location delivers sunsets that stop the conversation. The woodfired Mugnaini oven adds flavour and warmth to what might be the west coast’s most welcoming dining room.
• 1909 Kitchen was named one of Canada’s 30 Best New Restaurants (2018) by En Route Magazine
• Chef Paul Moran won the 2015 San Pellegrino Young Chef Competition
• Moran was also awarded the 2013 Hawksworth Young Chef Award, judged by Canada’s top chefs.

As an integral keystone in Tofino Resort + Marina’s beautiful and extensive renovation, 1909 Kitchen is the culinary lifeblood of this adventure-focused resort located on the waterfront in beautiful Tofino, British Columbia, and is also the proud home of The Hatch Waterfront Pub. Set in the heart of town, on the water, Tofino Resort + Marina is a base camp for adventures of all types. We serve the authentic Tofino experience, from the food to the fishing to the surf breaks of Long Beach.
We are seeking a passionate culinary leader who wants to drive the front-of-house service standards to a level which matches the exemplary food program happening in our kitchen. The right candidate aspires to mentor the next wave of service professionals in Canada’s next burgeoning foodie scene. They are at home in a leadership role and enjoy teaching the ins and outs of next-level service. The food and beverage manager is accountable for day-to-day operations of both restaurants, including staffing, cost controls, staff training, administration and active floor management during service. This hands-on position is a great opportunity with room to grow, in a town rapidly becoming famous for elevated dining experiences.
