Sustainability

Committed to the West Coast

Integrity. Passion. Sustainability.

At Tofino Resort + Marina, we take pride in offering unforgettable connections to the West Coast while honouring the land and ocean we call home. As a proud member of the Tribal Parks Alliance, we acknowledge that all our adventures take place on unceded Indigenous territory. We also actively support efforts to protect our local ecosystems in partnership with the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust.

1% Eco Fee

In partnership with the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust (CBT), Tofino Resort + Marina contributes revenue alongside guests who contribute 1% of all resort, adventure and marina purchases to current and future conservation, education, and research projects. The funds are distributed to keystone initiatives that protect natural ecosystems and wildlife in Clayoquot Sound.

1% Tribal Park Allies

Tofino Resort + Marina guests contribute a humble 1% of their total bill to the unceded territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations. These funds assist the Tla-o-qui-aht in developing exciting economic development and environmental protection programs, including the Tribal Parks’ Guardians Program, cultural preservation and restoration initiatives, hydropower projects, and marine life and fish hatchery operations.

Ocean-Friendly Business

We’re proud to join forces with Surfrider Pacific Rim to eliminate single-use plastics, divert waste from landfills, and support an Ocean Friendly Corridor between Tofino and Ucluelet. From adopting compostable takeout containers to eliminating plastic water bottles and foam docks, we’re committed to doing our part.

Veritree Kelp Forest Restoration

Through our partnership with Veritree, we are restoring declining kelp forests along the West Coast. For every guest who opts out of housekeeping services, kelp is planted in local waters. These underwater forests are vital habitats for marine life and play a critical role in ocean health. So far, we’re planting 4925 kelp, restoring 532 square feet of ocean.
