About the Artists

Songs for the Sound is excited to welcome local Vancouver Island talent:

Downtown Mischief: Downtown Mischief are space alien reptiles. Large tails, small brains. You’ll likely recognize the flaowtest.
Some may call them Funky funky chill chill, but they prefer beach trash.
Drums and electric guitars, with at minimum 2 Saxophone solos per set, contractually.
Yours truly,
Party Pirates

Dakota Cooney + Kieran Campbell: Kieran Campbell is a Victoria, BC–born singer-songwriter now based between Montréal and Tofino. Rooted in alt-folk, his music blends modern reflection with the timeless storytelling of artists like Townes Van Zandt and John Prine, delivered with quiet honesty and emotional depth.

Dakota Cooney is a Tofino–based singer-songwriter whose sound spans crooning blues to twangy folk. Inspired by women like Adrianne Lenker, Lucinda Williams, and Josephine Foster, her old-fashioned vocals bring a raw, timeless presence to every song.

Together, Kieran Campbell and Dakota Cooney form a compelling folk duo, weaving their distinct styles into something intimate and dynamic. Blending rich storytelling with haunting vocal interplay, their performances move between tenderness and grit, creating a sound that feels both grounded and transportive.

Aaron Wylder: Born in the Caribbean, Aaron lived a contented childhood typified by uncomplicated and down-to-earth island-living. At the age of 14 he moved to Victoria, British Columbia. Influenced by island living and the west coast, Wylder’s sound can be best described as a mixture of Americana, Indie Rock and Indie Folk. He currently splits his time between Montreal and Victoria. His debut studio album “Brand New TV” is set to release this spring. He will be hitting the road with a 15+ show Canadian tour starting in Hawkesbury, Ontario on May 8th!
