How long is this experience?
After a 1–1.5 hour boat ride with wildlife viewing opportunities along the way, there’s a 30–45 minute walk along the boardwalk leading into the hot springs. You can enjoy the hot springs and the view for two hours, and then you have the return walk back to the dock for pick-up and another boat ride back to the resort.
-
Is this an accessible experience?
Although the 1.5 km board walk is well maintained and considered an easy hike, people with mobility limitations should take note of the length and stairs within the trail. In general, most people have no trouble completing the hike in, which can take between 30–40 minutes for people of average fitness.
The Hot Springs Cove hike isn’t suitable for wheelchairs. The natural rock descending to the hot spring pools can be slippery and uneven, so please be cautious. This section may be difficult for people with mobility issues.
-
Are there safety precautions to keep in mind?
Hot Springs Cove is a remote destination within Maquinna Marine Provincial Park. There is no potable water access or services. However, Hot Springs Cove does have outhouses and changing rooms.
In the hot springs, the water is very hot, so please be mindful of the time spent within the pools and be sure to stay hydrated. The boardwalk and rocks can be slippery at times, too, so please take caution.
