Marine Guide Supervisor

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Marine Guide Supervisor to lead ecotours as well as train and mentor our team of captains. This role also involves identifying maintenance needs for our fleet of seven vessels and ensuring safety and compliance with all regulations. The ideal candidate will combine a passion for marine life and education with strong leadership and organizational skills.  

Key Responsibilities  

Tour Guidance  

  • Lead engaging and informative marine tours for guests, showcasing local wildlife and ecosystems.  
  • Assist Marina Manager in developing and updating tour content to enhance guest experience and education.  
  • Encourage positive guest reviews . 

Training and Supervision  

  • Train and mentor new and existing captains on best practices, safety protocols, and customer service.  
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.  
  • Lead by example to show what is expected of Tofino Resort + Marina’s guide team. 
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions. 
  • Ensuring correct and consistent logbook use. 

Fleet Management  

  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of the fleet, ensuring all vessels are safe, clean, and compliant with federal and provincial regulations.  
  • Conduct routine weekly inspections of vessels and trailers including engine hours.  
  • Assist Marina Manager to coordinate maintenance repairs, and upgrades for trailers and vessels.  

Safety and Compliance  

  • Implement and enforce safety procedures and emergency protocols.  
  • Stay up-to-date on maritime laws and regulations, ensuring the company operates within legal requirements.  
  • Assist the Marina Operations Manager in completing safety related documentation.  

Leadership skills  

  • Display strong communication skills.  
  • Proactive decision-making ability.  
  • Utilize empathy and emotional intelligence when communicating with team members. 
  • Team building and motivation for a team of experienced captains and junior guides alike. 
  • Adaptability, trust and ability to delegation.
  • Organizational skills. 

Qualifications  

  • Proven experience as a marine tour guide.  
  • Previous leadership experience is preferred.  
  • Strong knowledge of weather, ocean navigation, local wildlife, and maritime safety regulations.  
  • Experience in training and mentoring staff, particularly in a marine or tourism environment.  
  • Familiarity with vessel maintenance and driving a truck and trailer (BC driver’s license).  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment and adapt to changing weather conditions.  
  • Required certifications: SVOP, ROC-M, SVBDS and Marine Basic First Aid. 
  • Additional certification as asset: Sea Kayak Level 1 .

Marketing Coordinator

Job Description:

Tofino Resort + Marina (TRM) is an adventure-lover’s playground, located on the harbour in beautiful Tofino, British Columbia. We offer the only full-service marina in town, an Adventure Centre which facilitates the most incredible west coast adventure experiences, a 63-room hotel as the ultimate basecamp and an oceanfront gym facility — all within walking distance from downtown Tofino. We share our waterfront with Shelter, one of the most well-known restaurants in Tofino, and are home to the only terminal for Harbour Air flights on the west coast of Vancouver Island. This business is easy to get excited about and fun to promote!Reporting to our Sales and Marketing Manager, the Marketing Coordinator will work closely with department managers and TRM staff. They will be responsible for all resort marketing and communications and assist with collaborating with external partners including website developer and online marketing agency. This is an onsite position that requires the successful candidate to move to Tofino. Subsidized staff housing is available.
Responsibilities:

Email Marketing:

  • Design and execute email marketing campaigns to promote the resort, special offers, and events.
  • Maintain and segment email subscriber lists for targeted campaigns.
  • Track email performance metrics and optimize campaigns based on data insights.

Social Media:

  • Monitor, schedule, and post content across all social media platforms.
  • Engage with the online community, responding to comments and messages in a timely manner.
  • Analyze social media metrics and create performance reports.

Website:

  • Regularly monitor website to ensure all information is accurate.
  • Update website ensuring fresh, and compelling content.
  • Ensure all promotions, deals and packages are loaded and up to date.

Content Creation and Management:

  • Develop and manage engaging content for social media, email campaigns, and blog posts.
  • Coordinate photo and video shoots, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines.
  • Organize influencer visits, managing deliverables and expectations.

Community:

  • Build relationships and partnerships within the local community.
  • Promote our community sustainability fund.
  • Assist with the coordination and promotion of resort-hosted events.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all marketing adheres to brand standards and delivers a cohesive brand message.
  • Connect with 3 Party online marketing and website development agencies.
  • Assist in the development of branded merchandise and promotional items.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitors to identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Collect and analyze guest feedback to improve marketing efforts.
  • Assist the Sales + Marketing Manager in crafting and implementing marketing campaigns.
  • Work closely with department managers to ensure integrated marketing and sales strategies.
  • Play a pivotal role in both digital and traditional advertising initiatives.
  • Manage the design and creation of all corporate marketing assets, both print and digital.
  • Other marketing duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Post secondary education in Communication, Marketing, or Advertising
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in a marketing or communications role, preferably in the hospitality or tourism industry.
  • Experience creating and managing email campaigns. Understanding of email campaign performance metrics (open rates, click-through rates, etc.).
  • Strong writing skills for copy of email campaigns, captions, and promotional content. Strong attention to detail to ensure adherence to brand voice and style.
  • Proficiency in managing and resharing content on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Basic knowledge of design principles for creating visually appealing promotions and social media content.
  • Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency: skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of WordPress. Experience in managing and updating websites.
  • Graphic Design Software: experience utilizing Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.
  • Basic understanding of Google Ads and Analytics.
  • Other Software experience: Hotel PMS, CRM, scheduling platforms.

Salary:

  • $52,000 – $ 56,000 annually
Front Desk Supervisor

Job Description: 

  • Supervise the efficient operations of reception including check in/out procedures 
  • Support team members in handling guest requests and enquires to ensure a positive outcome is achieved 
  • Ensure that the Rooms Division Manager is kept aware of any relevant feedback from Guests and/or other departments  
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service at all times 
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of all hotel room categories, room rates, packages, promotions, adventure tours and other general product knowledge necessary to perform daily duties 
  • Intimate knowledge of local area and all resort offerings including adventure tours and restaurant menus  
  • Monitor the standards and performance of the Front Desk Team with an emphasis on training and teamwork 
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire Team Members to exceed standards 
  • Follow and adhere to company brand standards 
  • Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships with all team members 
  • Maintain the overall cleanliness and physical condition of the front desk and office storage areas

Fishing Guide (Summer 2025 season)

Overview:

Join our team as a Fishing Guide for the Summer 2025 season! This exciting role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about fishing and enjoy sharing their knowledge with others. As a Fishing Guide, you will lead groups of anglers on fishing excursions in our Kingfisher, Boston Whaler, and Bridgeview along Tofino’s rugged coast. Providing our guests with an unforgettable experience while ensuring their safety and enjoyment is top priority. Your leadership and communication skills will be essential in educating clients about fishing techniques, local wildlife, and environmental conservation.  

Season expectation April 1 – September 30, 2025 

Job Description: 

  • Guide full day (8h) and half day (5h) fishing charters  
  • Educate guests on fishing techniques, equipment usage, and local fish species 
  • Pilot vessels with maximum 600hp (twin screw)  
  • Prepare and maintain equipment for trips  
  • Execute best practices in fish handling, harvesting, and processing
  • Be well versed in company and industry standards 
  • Guides paid biweekly, based on number of trips guided. No tip pooling  

Job Requirements/Qualifications: 

  • SVOP, MED A3, Marine Basic First Aid & CPR and ROC-M certification required  
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage and educate guests
  • Positive and self-motivated, able to work well independently and cooperatively with coworkers  
  • Punctual, organized, reliable with effective communication skills  
  • Thorough understanding of BC saltwater fishing practices  
  • Minimum 1 year experience as fishing captain  
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions 
  • Desire to be a steward of the environment – Knowledge of Clayoquot Sound a bonus

Wage: 

  • $33/hour, 5-hour and 8-hour fishing trips available
Marina Supervisor (April 1, 2025 start date)

Reporting to the Marina Operations Manager,  the Marina Supervisor is responsible for performing and overseeing all daily land-related aspects of the marina and Adventure Center while on duty. Strong  marine and admin skills are essential in this role. This is a great position for someone looking to grow into a management position in the tourism industry. 

 Job Description:

  •  Assist in training and monitoring performance standards for the Adventure Centre Team 
  • Delegate daily duties to adventure hosts and dock hands 
  • Assist with scheduling and adjust daily as operations dictate 
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of all resort and marina offerings 
  • Ensure the docks and marine office are always kept clean and tidy, and free of hazards 
  • Maintain strong knowledge of company and government regulations related to marine operations  
  • Tie off float planes and boats 
  • Facilitate a first-class guest experience for moorage, tour and Harbour Air reservations 
  • Maintain a positive relationship with annual moorage holders and address concerns as required 
  • Operate VHF radio to communicate with captains 
  • Customer service 
  • Administrative tasks, process bookings, email and telephone communication, payment processing 
  • Coordinate vessel arrivals and departures 
  • Weekly 1-on-1s with management to ensure smooth departmental operations  
  • Light duty maintenance and fish processing 

 Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of boating practices, ecotourism, sales and customer relations 
  • Comfortable using a variety of computer software 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
