Career Opportunities
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Marine Guide Supervisor to lead ecotours as well as train and mentor our team of captains. This role also involves identifying maintenance needs for our fleet of seven vessels and ensuring safety and compliance with all regulations. The ideal candidate will combine a passion for marine life and education with strong leadership and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Tour Guidance
- Lead engaging and informative marine tours for guests, showcasing local wildlife and ecosystems.
- Assist Marina Manager in developing and updating tour content to enhance guest experience and education.
- Encourage positive guest reviews .
Training and Supervision
- Train and mentor new and existing captains on best practices, safety protocols, and customer service.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Lead by example to show what is expected of Tofino Resort + Marina’s guide team.
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions.
- Ensuring correct and consistent logbook use.
Fleet Management
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of the fleet, ensuring all vessels are safe, clean, and compliant with federal and provincial regulations.
- Conduct routine weekly inspections of vessels and trailers including engine hours.
- Assist Marina Manager to coordinate maintenance repairs, and upgrades for trailers and vessels.
Safety and Compliance
- Implement and enforce safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Stay up-to-date on maritime laws and regulations, ensuring the company operates within legal requirements.
- Assist the Marina Operations Manager in completing safety related documentation.
Leadership skills
- Display strong communication skills.
- Proactive decision-making ability.
- Utilize empathy and emotional intelligence when communicating with team members.
- Team building and motivation for a team of experienced captains and junior guides alike.
- Adaptability, trust and ability to delegation.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a marine tour guide.
- Previous leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of weather, ocean navigation, local wildlife, and maritime safety regulations.
- Experience in training and mentoring staff, particularly in a marine or tourism environment.
- Familiarity with vessel maintenance and driving a truck and trailer (BC driver’s license).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment and adapt to changing weather conditions.
- Required certifications: SVOP, ROC-M, SDVBS and Marine Basic First Aid.
- Additional certification as asset: Sea Kayak Level 1 .
Wage
- $30-$38/hour
Set in the heart of town, on the water, Tofino Resort + Marina is a comfortable and capable base camp for west coast adventure. We operate Tofino’s largest private marina, offering moorage for pleasure crafts and yachts up to 130’. Alongside our Marina you will find our Marine Adventure Centre which offers bear and whale watching tours, guided fishing tours, charters to Hot Spring Cove, sea kayaking, a remote floating sauna, and our onsite public fitness centre Tuff Fit.
Are you inspire by adventure? We are seeking an enthusiastic Level 1 Kayak Guide to host tours on our remote dock in Clayoquot Sound.
Our remote kayak excursion is not your standard day trip! Pilot a 30-minute scenic boat ride to our private kayak dock, nestled in serene Tofino Inlet. There, you will find all kayak gear waiting for you and your guests’ 4.5-hour day trip. Explore a network of small islands surrounded by wildlife and little to no boat traffic before loading back up for a final boat ride back to our marina.
Job Description:
- Guide groups of up to 6 on 4.5 hour remote kayaking tours up to twice a day
- Assistant guide will join for groups of 7 or more
- Season expectation April 15th – October 15th
- Pilot vessels with maximum 600hp (twin screw)
- Educate guests on local flora and fauna including intertidal species, eagles, seals, black bears, orcas etc.
- Prepare equipment for trips and provide basic maintenance of kayak equipment
- Be well versed in industry standards of safety and marine regulations
- Guides paid biweekly, based on number of trips guided. No tip pooling
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- SVOP, MED A3, Marine Basic First Aid & CPR and ROC-M certification required
- Level 1 Kayak guide certification required
- Positive and self-motivated, able to work well independently and cooperatively with coworkers
- Punctual, organized, reliable with effective communication skills
- Minimum 1 year experience as SVOP captain
- Minimum 1 year experience as kayak guide
- Physically fit and able to conduct man overboard drills, lift up to 50lbs etc.
- Desire to be a steward of the environment
- Knowledge of Clayoquot sound and local flora and fauna an asset
- Experience repairing fiberglass kayaks an asset

Overview:
Join our team as a Fishing Guide for the Summer 2025 season! This exciting role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about fishing and enjoy sharing their knowledge with others. As a Fishing Guide, you will lead groups of anglers on fishing excursions in our Kingfisher, Boston Whaler, and Bridgeview along Tofino’s rugged coast. Providing our guests with an unforgettable experience while ensuring their safety and enjoyment is top priority. Your leadership and communication skills will be essential in educating clients about fishing techniques, local wildlife, and environmental conservation.
Season expectation April 1 – September 30, 2025

Job Description:
- Perform maintenance operations such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general repairs as per the request of the Maintenance Manager
- Clean and maintain shop, shop equipment, and work areas
- Maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of the resort property
- Work in both indoor and outdoor settings in all weather
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Related maintenance experience an asset (basic repairs, carpentry, plumbing, electrical etc.)
- Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license

- Process guest arrivals and departures, including all necessary payments
- Maintain full comprehensive knowledge of room locations, features, rates, packages, and property offerings
- Book and accurately describe all Marina and Adventure Centre offerings

- Handle phone, email, and online reservations and inquires
- Interact effectively with Guests and Staff to create a positive and cohesive Resort experience
- Attend to room requests when maintenance technicians or housekeepers are not available

Job Description:
- Provide outstanding customer service to all guests and visitors of Tofino Resort + Marina
- Clean, organize, and maintain dock and marina facilities
- Conduct dock walks to ensure vessels are tied down securely and docks are clear from hazards
- Preform minor repairs to dock facilities
- Work in tandem with the charter office to facilitate docking and departures of vessels as well as Harbour Air seaplanes
- Assist in icing fishing vessels
- Assist in fueling vessels and float planes
- Communicate dock rules and policies to guests
- Advise moorage guests of sea and weather conditions
- Assist in preparing vessels for Adventure Tours and cleaning boats post-trip
- Prepare sport caught fish for processing
