PSILO SOL

Psilo Sol is fronted by Sofia Sol, a Colombian born musician who’s soulful vocals play whimsically with the air around her. Ollie Happyness, born and raised on Vancouver Island, rips the guitar melodiously throughout the performance while also supplying many of the vocal tone vibrations. Mikey Viperteeth, essential to any musical project, effortlessly slips up and down the saxophone keys, but will switch to any instrument if necessary. Liam Mackenzie, although not present at all performances, is #1 drum guy. As if performing a routine task he brings the funk effortlessly with silky high hat shplonkity takatas.

SkiiTour + Smalltown DJ bring the APRAVÈS TOUR to Tofino

Dancing is back in Tofino, and so is SkiiTour! Get ready to party.

Who is SkiiTour? A fun-loving duo known for their upbeat “feel-good house music that keeps the vibe groovy” (DJ Mag) as well as channelling a retro ski aesthetic. Their annual high-energy après ski parties at Shambhala Music Festival have become legendary and their tracks have been supported by Diplo, Anna Lunoe, Zedd, David Guetta, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, JAUZ, Martin Garrix, Martin Solveig, Claptone, and more.

Kalil Bailey

Inspired by the the likes of Allen Stone, Sarah Harmer, and Half Moon Run, Kalil Bailey and Co deliver a soulful, upbeat set sprinkled with moments of delicate folk. Hailing all the way from Ontario, Kalil has been singing and playing guitar for over ten years. Over this time he honed his skills studying vocal jazz in Toronto. In 2020 Kalil released his debut EP, and has continued releasing singles since then. In recent times his focus has sharpened on developing two new projects as the guitarist of The Codas and drummer of FieldBlur. Joining forces with bassist Max Bumstead and drummer Isaac Walker this groups contagious stage presence and fierce moustaches are not to be missed.

NADUH and Katie Hall

Filling in the industry thigh gap, 5 piece femme powered hip hop group NADUH brings a distinctive sound and personal empowerment to all. Actively meditating and communing with plant medicines, their cosmic insight transmutes into their music, helping their audience gain higher realms of consciousness while entertaining their urge to twerk. NADUH, composed of Jenny Lea (of I M U R), Taraneh (aka Tee Krispil), Rosita Alcantara (of Off Topic), Giorgi Holiday, and Larisa Marie, write, engineer, and produce all of their music – meaning they have crafted a sound that’s truly representative of their collective energy – spreading that cosmic message through R&B infused beats that slap, laced with buttery vocals and hard hitting lyrics.  Recognizing the immediate need for the healing of divine feminine energy in the music industry, NADUH joined forces making their supergroup dreams come true.

 

Katie Hall, is a 20-year-old hip-hop artist on the rise from Victoria, BC. Katie brings a highly energetic show, with strong choreography, and all the sass. Katie’s music is influence by her love of surfing and skateboarding, bringing a highly contagious West Coast Vibe.

Phöenix Lazare and Hownd

Join Salt Spring Island based artists Phöenix Lazare and Hownd for an evening of live, original music at The Hatch!

Phöenix Lazare masterfully melds the intimacy of folk music with alluring pop melodies on her new album Gold, a self-produced record that charts her personal journey navigating growth. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, her inspirations range from Joni Mitchell to John Mayer, and like those artists, she has created a warm sonic style that stays authentic to her songs.

An old soul with a gift for mindful songwriting, Hownd is an artist unafraid to dive deep. Justin Kelley’s distinct soul/Americana sound was polished in Nashville where his roots were planted as a singer/songwriter following studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston. With lyrics mirroring the most impactful observations of humanity, Hownd’s music is a direct reflection of his experiences.

Buwa

British Columbia based, Nigerian performer Buwa is an artist you want to keep on your radar.  Drawing influences from the late Whitney Houston, as well as Jill Scott, India Arie, Billy Porter, and Brenda Fassie – Buwa is an exciting contemporary soul artist, with pop and R&B sensibilities and a penchant for storytelling, for whom, music has always played an important place. Buwa channels his creativity into poetry and performance art appearing in various stage productions on Vancouver Island where he resides. Recognized for his infectious melodies, his versatile voice and captivating song writing, Buwa has released two EP: Olu [2019] and Road Signs [2016], along with handful of captivating singles.  He uses his music and talents to change the way the world sees Africa.

Kapok and Ashleigh Eymann

Long time collaborators and closest of friends. Kapok and Ashleigh Eymann are as dynamic individually as they are paired, trading rhymes and harmonizing sultry chorus lines.

Through their shared love and mutual respect for genres such hip-hop, r&b and soul music the two are set to hit you in the feels and get your body moving. An accompaniment of Ashleigh’s riffing piano and pulsing backing tracks set the tone for the two singers and emcees to deliver an evening of intimate, vibrant, uplifting and headnotic music.

Kapok performed at the Tofino Jazz Festival last September and his show was amazingly well received by the crowd gathered in the Village Green.   The hype was really high!

DUNKS

Co-founder of The Funk Hunters and founding member of Lazy Syrup Orchestra, Dunks is a versatile DJ, producer, & curator known for an extremely diverse taste in music. During the pandemic, he transitioned to the online streaming platform Twitch, where he quickly built up a community of over 25K followers playing an exciting and unpredictable range of genres.  His multimedia artistry and ability to utilize a variety of formats pushed the limits of how we share live music and video in the digital age. He performed live streaming shows from remote mountain tops, beaches and even a set on a 10 ft. boat floating in the Pacific Ocean. He also produced over 60 episodes of the weekly variety show, The Detour Drive, which has supported hundreds of artists and fundraised for environmental and humanitarian causes across the world. Having toured internationally countless times and having performed at hundreds of festivals over the past decade, Dunks is an iconic name in the West Coast electronic and global online music scene.

Butterflywingtip

Butterflywingtip is a production duo based on Canada’s west coast in Tofino British Columbia. BFWT is Katherine Stares and Steve Bick. Their sound is influenced by Boards of Canada, Wu Tang, and King Tubby. The Butterflywingtip live show is a mash up of live percussion, electric guitar, and dense sample work, paired with epic visuals and a hype dance-floor.
