UNESCO Biosphere Reserve
Protected place
Tofino is located in the stunning Pacific Rim National Park on the remote west coast of Vancouver Island—a haven for nature lovers and adventurers from around the world. Within the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve lives an astonishing array of plants, mammals, birds, fish and other ocean life— many of which are rare or endangered. Numerous ecosystems exist around the Tofino area, including ancient temperate rainforest, lakes, rivers, mountains, and of course the rugged ocean shoreline and long sandy beaches… all waiting to be explored.
Get swept up
Known for our waves, Tofino is a popular year-round spot for both amateur and pro surfers. But there’s so much more to do here. Beach comb in the summer, stormwatch in the winter, rent a kayak and paddle out to sea, or take your dog for a rainforest hike.
